France

We have dipped our toes into France with a few days in the eastern cities of Strasbourg & Colmar. Three days in Paris left us wanting more. And the French Alps are breathtaking and we will never get enough of those panoramic mountains.

Did you know?

  • France is the number one destination for tourists in the world? Honestly, it didn’t seem like it when we were there. Paris was busy, but it didn’t seem busier than New York, Sydney or other big cities.
  • It is the first country in the world to ban supermarkets from throwing away food. Anything reaching the end of its shelf life must be donated and cannot be thrown away.
  • Europe’s highest mountain is Mount Blanc in the French Alps.
  • The French love their roundabouts – about half in the world are located in this country.
  • Radio stations have rules that require them to play 40% French music. There is even a certain amount of that quota that needs to be new music.
  • Over 11 billion glasses of wine are consumed each year in France.
