During our January trip to Cerritos Beach near Todos Santos, Mexico, we looked up some possible hikes to do when we needed a break from the beach. The Sugar Port Trail came up on multiple lists, so we added it to our itinerary. AllTrails had all the trail information and the route.
The Sugar Port Trail starts near Punta Lobos, where all the fishing boats launch from. The climb is gradual, and the views are amazing. Once at the top, you descend down into the little bay area. It’s a beautiful, quiet area where you can see Sea Lions on the rocks and sometimes Whales breaching in the ocean before you.
It is a great spot to jump in the water at the bottom if you wear the right thing. The beach isn’t sandy, but the water is clear and beautiful and a great way to cool down before the climb back uphill.
It’s about 7 km/4.2 miles out and back. You will definitely be ready for a cold drink afterward. The Hotel San Cristobal is near the beginning of the hike, and they have a pool bar that is open daily with light snacks and drinks.
Here is the Google Maps link to Punta Lobos where you start the hike.

If you are planning a trip to the Baja Peninsula in Mexico, we would also recommend booking a sunset sail on the Pacific and doing some of the fun tourist things in Cabo San Lucas.
