We had only three days in Singapore to take in as much as possible, and Gardens by the Bay was high on our list. You may recognize the light-up trees from the movie Crazy Rich Asians. It is one of the most popular attractions in Singapore. It is also one of the best places to escape the heat and humidity on those sunny days.

We spent hours exploring the two indoor buildings while it was hot outside and came back in the evening to take advantage of the light up displays. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. The innovation and planning that went into this part of the city is inspiring. We are sharing just a tiny fraction of the photos we took and some info for those of you that are visiting Singapore in the future.

Gardens By The Bay Attractions

The Flower Dome

This is one of the indoor buildings with great air conditioning. It features a giant collection of flowers from all different climates around the world. When we visited, the main collection was roses and they had so many colors and varieties.

We flew through this building quickly because it is more of a big open space so unless you want to take one million pictures, you just wander around and take it all in.

Cloud Forest

This was the highlight for me. It is a giant dome that imitates the climate of a cloud forest. You wander through the different levels using escalators and elevators. There is an amazing display on climate change and ways that we can make a difference and it was so well done. We overheard some great conversations as people were leaving the different sections.

Supertree Grove

These giant trees are more than just decorations. They also catch rainwater used in the indoor gardens and they are outfitted with solar panels on the top to help power the attractions at the gardens. It is completely free to visit this part of the park. They have a lot of different events in the park, so definitely check and see what’s going on when you’re visiting Singapore. We were there during the premier of Toy Story 4 so there was a children’s festival complete with rides, character greetings and a really cool light show at night.

OCBC Skyway

If you purchase the package ticket that we did, you will get access to the OCBC Skyway. This is the elevated walkway that connects the super trees. You take an elevator up and walk the track above the grove. The views are beautiful.

We took advantage of the excuse to return at night to see everything all lit up. The walkway doesn’t stay open very late, so we got there right after sunset. It was really cool to see the park all lit up and if you are able to make it work, I would recommend taking the same approach.

Gardens by the Bay at night

Gardens by the Bay is a beautiful section of Singapore located right on the water and within walking distance from the city center. It is a place I would visit again if I ever visited Singapore in the future.
