The title is a bit deceiving because we stayed in Da Nang for four nights, so let me explain. We checked into our amazing AirBnB only to find out that the construction near by meant that we could only use the water a few times each day. Between that and the heat, we decided to make some moves. We planned an incredible one day trip to Ba Na Hills which is about a 40 minute drive. We also took one night and went to check out Hoi An. It makes Da Nang the perfect place to land for a while and enjoy the surrounding area.

We stayed in an apartment right on the beach. Other than the water issue, it was perfection. The balcony had views that allowed us to catch sunrise and sunset every day. I wanted to share a perfect day in Da Nang built with the things that we fell in love with while there.

Explore Da Nang in a Day

Sunrise is bright and early. Watch the sun come up with the rest of the city while swimming or enjoying the beach.

Get a smoothie bowl for breakfast at Roots. You can grab a coffee next door at Wanderlust. If smoothie bowls aren’t your thing, there are a bunch of different options for a healthy start to your day.

Spend your day napping, reading and just relaxing because it is SO hot outside. Seriously, we arrived at 2:30 PM and there was not a soul on the roads. We thought the town was dead, but after dark, you will learn that people just stay inside.

Get out and enjoy golden hour. This is the magic. Seeing the sunset with the silhouette of mountains is amazing. Our view was perfect from our balcony, so we enjoyed a cold drink every night.

There are many options for dinner. The restaurant, Tamarind Tree, that we visited almost every night did not survive COVID. Try Bodhicitta Vegan Restaurant or Emo’s Vietnamese Taste Restaurant which have meatless options.

After dinner, you should find yourself a place to have a drink. Section 30 was having it’s soft opening while we were there and we can’t say enough good things. It’s a few storage containers repurposed into a bar with great cocktails and cold beer. It’s right across the street from the breakfast spot we talked about. The neighborhood is great.

If you are in Da Nang on Saturday or Sunday night, you should make yourself available at 9:00 PM with a view of the Dragon Bridge. It shoots fire and water from the dragon’s mouth and it’s quite the spectacle. We could see this from our balcony as well. (I told you the location was amazing.)

The city is alive at the strangest hours of the day, but once you’ve felt the midday heat in June, you will understand. Having day trips planned helped, but the views from our apartment were really the icing on the cake.

Da Nang Logistics

Here is a link for the apartment we stayed in on AirBnB.

We stayed near the beach, but you can stay on the other side of the river. You may have more access to variety, but walking to the beach won’t be super easy.

The Da Nang International Airport is amazing. It’s clean, new and really easy to navigate. It was the easiest we visited in Vietnam. Make sure to read up on the important things to know before visiting Vietnam and let us know if you have any questions on how to organize your Vietnam itinerary.
