About Us

After spending years taking weekend trips and trying to fit as much as we could into each week-long vacation, we decided to do something a little different. We quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and bought a one-way ticket to New Zealand. We planned to travel until our savings account got dangerously low and then we would figure out a home base and get new jobs.

The pandemic brought the trip to a halt, but after 12 months of moving around, having a hometown again is excellent. It was not the adventure we signed up for, but we think we’ve ended up exactly where we are supposed to be.

Seattle is our launchpad for weekend adventures now. We have no plans to stop adventuring and sharing our tips along the way.

“And then there is the most dangerous risk of all – the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.” – Randy Komisar

“Traveling makes one modest – you see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustave Flaubert

Meet Justin

A middle child, snowboarding enthusiast, cheese lover, reader of outdoor gear reviews, and also up for checking out a brewery. I was born in MN, raised in Southern California, and lived in about ten places since then.

He is the one in charge of packing, researching supplies, flying the drone, and driving on the opposite side of the road.

Meet Steph

A book nerd, type A personality, awkward picture taker, rule follower, boxed wine drinker, and huge fan of playing outside. Raised on the ice rinks of MN and didn’t leave until moving to NYC as an adult.

She is the one who is in charge of making lists, checking them twice, organizing internet things, and 90% of Instagram stories. Also, writing this in the third person because she does more of the writing.

Our Story (The Quick Version)

Our first date was a Twins baseball game in 2005 and we were married in 2008. We did what we thought adults do, bought a house in St. Paul, Minnesota, and were ready to settle down until we weren’t.

We moved to the East Coast in 2013 for a new adventure. We quickly fell in love with New York City, got better at skiing & snowboarding, and took our first international trip together to Iceland. We had the best two dogs in the world.

In 2019, after another move for work and the loss of both dogs in the same year to cancer, we found ourselves trying to figure out what to do next, and that’s how this adventure was born.

Fast forward to today and we are living in Seattle with our adopted German Pinscher, Marty. He might have spent his first 18 months on the streets of San Bernadino, California, but he was meant to be a PNW adventure dog (in between his naps.)
